EMC has released a new big data analytics appliance intended to help users analyze both structured and unstructured data within a single integrated system.
The EMC Greenplum Data Computing Appliance Unified Analytics Platform Edition for big data is intended to combine Greenplum’s massively parallel processing database and Hadoop distribution in one appliance, EMC says.
Josh Klahr, EMC Greenplum vice president of products, said the new appliance also includes partner ecosystems support from companies such as SAS and Informatica.
He added enterprises should consider data ingestion, support for structured and unstructured data, interfaces for data scientists and business intelligence users, and horizontal scalability as factors when investing in big data platforms.
Enterprises can recover up to 13 terabytes per hour when integrating the DCA with EMC’s data domain deduplication storage systems, EMC says.
