The site looks to connect the developments in the national and international arena with informative analysis that places the disparate ideas surrounding this still nascent market in dialogue with one another. We encourage you to follow our updates, and welcome your feedback on our articles and content.
Our readers can anticipate regular, objective and timely news updates on developments in cybersecurity spanning the public and private sectors. In practice, we do not focus on specific technologies but instead cover broader policy developments, key players and cyber incidents, along with broad innovations in cybersecurity context.
The New New Internet intends to support a safer world of the Internet’s next generation. We will focus beyond the realm of the new Internet of Web 2.0 into the promise of what will be The New, New Internet.

Jim Garrettson – President
Jim Garrettson is the president of TheNewNewInternet. In addition, he has founded TownHall Teleconferencing and The Potomac Officers Club (POC). Jim is a firm believer in the future of collaborative communications and founded TownHall with the intent of spreading the enabling power of collaborative IP-based tools that have recently appeared on the market. The POC, a Washington, D.C.-based club, is unique in its formation as an organization designed specifically for senior executives. The POC has been growing steadily under his leadership with its mission of creating a board of trade to foster business growth in the greater Washington area. The mission of the POC is to weave an executive fabric that benefits the local business community.
Along with his current duties at TownHall Teleconferencing and the Potomac Officers Club, Garrettson held the position of EVP of sales and marketing at Net2000, a competitive local exchange carrier. Garrettson has also gained experience in the start-up and Internet content distribution space as SVP of North American sales with Cidera. He helped Cidera expand its satellite-based, edge network throughout North America. Before Cidera, Garrettson held the position of president, Teleglobe business solutions and SVP of sales at Qwest Communications, where he ran the national general business sales force.
Katie Noland – Lead Writer
Katie Noland is the lead writer for TheNewNewInternet exploring the technological advances shaping the government contracting industry. Katie is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Virginia Tech with a bachelors degree in English focusing on Creative Writing. She has been a contributing writer to the Virginia Tech website and a reporter for the Collegiate Times with creative pieces published in both the National Society of Collegiate Scholars newsletter and Virginia Tech’s Silhouette.
Aquala Bogan studied broadcast journalism at California State University, Northridge, and contributed to the school’s TV news show and radio station writing and anchoring stories broadcast throughout the Los Angeles area. Through American University’s Washington Semester Program, she interned at C-SPAN and gained more knowledge about business news through an internship with CNBC.
Ross Wilkers – Writer
Ross Wilkers is a Northern Virginia native who decided to stay in the region. He graduated from George Mason University, Fairfax, in 2010 with a B.A. in communication with a journalism concentration. He wrote stories on government and local business for the Patch.com website based in Manassas and the Fauquier Times- Democrat, a twice-weekly newspaper published in Warrenton.
Tim Watson – Writer
Tim Watson graduated from Washington and Lee University in May 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in business-journalism. He has had several articles published in USA Today’s Money Section and has completed freelance work for the Valley Business Front. He previously interned under the public information officer of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
