Lockheed Providing Foliage Radar to SOUTHCOM

Lockheed Martin deployed a reconnaissance radar to support the U.S. Southern Command‘s counterterrror and humanitarian assistance missions.

Lockheed Martin said the Tactical Reconnaissance and Counter-Concealment-Enabled Radar also supports disaster relief operations.

SOUTHCOM will operate the radar on the Army’s C-12 aircraft fleet.

Lockheed said the radar has completed more than 160 flight tests on manned and unmanned platforms.

Lockheed Opening Colorado GPS III Facility to Support $1.5B Contract

Lockheed Martin‘s space systems business recently opened a GPS III production facility in Waterton Canyon, Colo., the Denver Post reports.

The 40,000 square-foot facility can develop and process up to four satellites at once, the newspaper reported. 

The facility will support Lockheed’s work on its $1.5 billion dollar Air Force contract to develop and test satellites for the GPS III system.

NIST, Maryland to Open Natl. Cyber Center for Health IT, Cloud

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is partnering with the state of Maryland and Montgomery County, Md. to establish a cybersecurity center near NIST’s Gaithersburg, Md. campus.
