Government to Tap Brakes on IT Spending

According to a new report by TechAmerica, federal IT budgets will only grow 3.4% in the next 5 years. This is a significant drop from the 8.3% growth rate from 2005 to 2010.

Taskforce to Focus on Effectiveness over Compliance

A cross-agency task force is looking to implement a standard set of metrics to measure the effectiveness of cybersecurity efforts throughout government agencies.
The new Security Metrics Taskforce will look to examples throughout the government and private sector in developing the new metric standards.

The Department of Justice recently determined the use of Einstein 2, the government program that monitors communications on government servers, does not violate rights of private citizens or government employees.
