Virus Shuts Border Crossing

Over the weekend, thousands of Russian tourists were trapped on the Chinese side of the border after a computer virus crashed the electronic border control system. On Sunday, customs officials at the checkpoint in Heihe, China, reported that a virus had shut down the computer systems used by border control officials, RIA Novosti reports.

Blocking Drive-By Downloads

Researchers from Georgia Tech and SRI International are set to release a new technology that would block ‘drive-by’ downloads. The free tool, called BLADE (Block All Drive-By Download Exploits), blocks any downloads not initiated by the user.

Drive-by downloads are when a user visits an infected website and malicious software is automatically downloaded onto the victims computer.
